The Liver

The liver is a large and complicated reddish-brown glandular organ located in the upper right portion of the abdominal cavity. It secretes bile and functions in metabolism of protein and carbohydrate and fat; synthesizes substances involved in the clotting of the blood; synthesizes vitamin A; detoxifies poisonous substances and breaks down worn-out erythrocytes.

The liver is an incredibly hardworking organ. Every day, it performs hundreds of critical functions that keep your body healthy. That’s why liver disease is such a serious risk to health and life.
